ArHi One Shot | My Love

Love

What is love?

If you ask me the definition of love, I can’t give you a dictionary answer because that would be incorrect. Until you don’t experience it, you cannot possibly know what it is like, what it feels like.

When I think of love, I think of my Khushi; my best friend, my soulmate, the mother of my children, my life! Before Khushi I never knew the true meaning of what love meant. Love is not just about saying I love you, getting roses and hearts on Valentine’s or any kind of gifts on anniversaries.

Love is about sacrifice, making someone happy because it warms you from within, because they mean the world to you. Love is commitment, meeting someone who you can spend the rest of your lives with, someone who is at your side in sorrow, happiness, health and sickness, richness or poverty. Love can be painful, love can be beautiful, love can be consuming, it can be never ending. Even when you’re afraid to jump, they make you want to overcome fear. You strive to become the best version of yourself.

Khushi; she came into my life and stole my breath away and in the next moment she became the reason for my every breath afterwards. She taught me that love cannot be measured by words but by actions. We may no longer say I love you to each other multiple times throughout the day because it is not necessary as our actions say more than that.

I love you can be expressed in more actions that in words; giving her a hug or a kiss, a random post it note appreciating each other, helping with the chores, making dinner for a change, taking the children out so she can have some alone time, pushing her towards her dreams, making sure she knows that she is doing her best, spending quality time with her.

If I thought I could not have loved her more, when our babies came, that proved me wrong. I looked at her in a whole new perspective. She was extraordinary, I could not have asked for a better partner to grow my family with. I can’t help but admire what a beautiful and wonderful mother she is to our little boy and girl.

Of course she is not perfect and neither am I, but to me she is my version of perfect. She snores, she sleeps in Taekwondo poses, she gets stressed for the littlest things, she nags, she hates being told she’s wrong, she’s got some crazy antics and she’s overprotective but she’s all mine and I love everything about her. I love sharing my life with her and I am eager to spend the rest of our lives. Waking up to her, spending the day with her, falling asleep in her arms, I look forward to every moment as long as she’s by my side.

Love is Khushi and Khushi is love.

P.s. I know as soon as I fall asleep, you’ll reach over into my drawer and read this letter. I saw the curiosity oozing from your face while you tried looking over to see what I was writing. Yes, I know you weren’t reading your novel, because you were on the same page for an hour love. 😛

Khushi smiled through her tears at his letter, she looked over at her husband’s sleeping form. He knew her too well. She neatly folded it and tucked it back into his drawer. She kissed his lips and snuggled into his arms. Their love was surely special, she couldn’t have asked for a better partner. She felt lucky to have found someone who loved with all of himself.

Author’s Note:

Whenever I think about love, these lines always comes to my mind; “Love is like the wind, you can’t see it but you can feel it.” and “Love is always patient and kind. It is never jealous. Love is never boastful nor conceited. It is never rude nor selfish. It does not take offense. It is not resentful…”

The song Photograph by Ed Sheeran is such a beautiful song with so much meaning. It’s one of my favs… If you enjoyed this, please leave a like and a comment 🙂
